F.T.N. Speech: Blogs:

This blog is about how to cook different foods. We picked this topic because almost everybody loves food and we thought it'd interest people more. A blog's a place online where you share your interests with other people and interact with with them. One feature of our blog is the poll, where people get to vote on the question I ask  them. One post is about pan fries in which you use a pan to make french fries from potatoes. And the other one is chocolate mousse  One thing I learned while doing our blog was seeing what people would enjoy looking at the most or what would attract them to visit our blog. I guess I used the Design Process by testing if food was a good topic to use so then the number of viewers would increase day by day, which it did. Sharing your opinions and feedback with other people you don't know on the web will be important in the future for using blogs in the future. It's important to learn about blogs because then you'll get to see what most people think about certain topics you bring up to them. So that's what the blog's about.

Easy Doughnuts

Most of those recipes out there in the world for doughtnuts are sometimes difficult, but for this recipe you'll only need to cut holes, which is a cinch to do with a small cookie cutter or a shot glass.
Below are hte ingriedients and steps to make your easy doughnuts!

Ingriedients:
1 8-count package large refrigerated biscuits (Pillsbury Grands etc.)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:
  1. Put the biscuits on a cutting board. Use a 1-inch round cookie cutter or shot glass, cut a hole in the center of each biscuit.
  2. Heat the oil in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. (Dip the edge of a doughnut into the pan to test the heat of the oil. When the oil is hot enough, the edge will bubble.)
  3. Put 4 doughnuts and cook until golden brown, 1 to 1 1/2 minutes per side.
  4. Transfer to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. Gently toss the warm doughnuts in the mixture a few at a time. ENJOY!

Chocolate Mousse

Here is another one of those great deserts you can make that are one of the sweetest deserts of life, Chocolate Mousse If you have allergies to either dairy products and/or chocolate, this recipe is not recommended for you! To get the bet results from this chocolate mousse, it needs to be chilled for about 2 hours. Here are the things you'll need:
  • about 9 ounces of dark or semi-sweet chocolate
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 pint of whipping cream (equals to one cup)
  • 1 cup of baker's sugar (it's up to you, you can use any kind)
Other things you'll need:
  • 4 medium or large bowls
  • 1 mixing utensil (use flexible in order to scoop up the most chocolate as possible)

Steps:
1. Separate the eggs into two bowls. Put the whites in one bowl and set aside for later. Put the yolks in another bowl. We will be using the yolks in the next step. Separate the whites from the yolks by splitting the egg in half and carefully sliding the yolk from one half to the other so that the whites will fall into the bowl but the yolk will stay in the egg.
3. Put the chocolate into the microwave for two and a half to three minutes. Stir the chocolate until it is smooth and allow it to cool.
4. Add the chocolate to the egg yolks and fold until it is well mixed. After you have mixed the chocolate and egg yolks, you should start beating the egg whites.
5.

Pan Fries (Not Using Fryers!)

Sometimes, people cannot afford to buy a fryer but for this french fry recipe all you need is a pan.
Potatoes take too long to make and burn to easily. The first problem was the oven. Potatoes always take a long time to bake, so that had to be eliminated. Second was that they burnt too easily, so it had to be fast and easy to check on and remove when perfect. The only answer was to fry them in a pan. This recipe is very simple. It works well with regular potatoes (the ones meant for frying work best) and doesn't have to be long fries, home fries can be made along with hash browns.

NOTE: First, when you add the oil to the pan, add a little bit of old, used oil. This will help make the fries brown evenly and be fluffy on the inside. The second is that the oil needs to be at 350-375 degrees before the fries can be added. The oil should foam when they are added.

The part that has the most choice is choosing what kind of potato you want (sweet potato, regular, fries, homefries (cubes) hash browns, skin, no-skin).

Steps:
-First wash and cut the potato in half.
-Then into quarters. Once in quarters, carefully chop into the desired size
-Next thing you need to do is to take your pan and add either vegetable oil or butter to it, a few table spoons of either will do. This choice is a health thing, but also a taste.
-After that, heat the pan on medium heat, and toss your fries in. KEEP an eye on them, and FLIP EVERY few minutes, this will ensure even cooking.
-After about 10 minutes they will start to brown a little, and usually are done after about 15 minutes. -Keep and eye on them and remove when golden brown.

Mug Brownies~

Basically, this is a brownie recipe but in a mug, in which you put in a microwave. Below are the steps and ingredient to make Mug Brownies.

Ingredients:
  • 4 tablespoons Flour
  • 2-4 Tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Cocoa powder (Don't use cocoa mix or Nesquik, it shouldn't have any sugar!)
  • 2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil (Don't use one with a strong flavor, olive, sesame, etc)
  • 2 Tablespoons Water
  • a Dash of salt
Other:
  • Mug
  • Microwave
Steps: Add the sugar, flour, cocoa, and salt to the mug and mix. Then add the oil and water and mix the dry and wet ingredients together. Be sure to be thorough, there's a tendency for clumps of the dry ingredients to form.
(Put in microwave for as long as you want! Everyone likes their brownies different!)

Reminder/Note: You can use butter instead of olive oil and milk instead of water, some people prefer these instead! If you want to make more than one, use the recipe separately.
